Stand with New Paltz Women in Black for Gaza on Saturday, July 6 from 12:30-1:30, in front of Elting Library. Free Palestine!
It will be 9 months on Sunday that this particular nightmare for the Palestinians begun. However, many are learning that the harassment and atrocities by Israel began decades prior.
This week the killings continued. On Tuesday, a declared safe zone was bombed killing at least 12 people. New evacuation orders have been issued for areas in Southern Gaza where as many as 250,000 people live. European Hospital, one of the few hospitals in Gaza that was partially functional, had to evacuate its patients. Some families had to push patients through the streets for miles to get to safety. Not all patients were able to be evacuated.
It is unimaginable to live under these conditions where death is waiting around every corner for all civilians. If you had face this, how would you cope? Certainly, the trauma will have long term effects no matter what the end will look like: PTSD, nightmare, severe anxiety, depression to name just a few.
The world is watching this genocide continue. More than 37,900 people have been killed, and more than 87,000 wounded. Many people are standing up and demanding a permanent ceasefire and a free Palestine. But more voices are needed. Please join us on Saturday and remind the community and the tourists driving by that we are paying attention and that this debacle must end.
