SUNY New Paltz students joined us in demanding an end to genocide. |
Dear ones,
Saturday was a Global Day of Action for Gaza and New Paltz Women In Black stood in solidarity with Gaza in front of the Elting Library. There were over 100 people standing in the rain to support Palestinians as their brutal nightmare continues. The size of this turnout (which may be the largest in the twenty-two years that WIB have been standing) in some way mirrors the the level of suffering, injustice, and inhumanity being experienced by innocent Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. There were many, many new (young) faces on the street and an abundance of righteous exuberance and strong, soaring voices chanting “Free, Free, Palestine” and “Israel you can’t hide. We charge you with genocide.” The street was pulsating with powerful and youthful energy. Thank you so much to all who came to witness and raise their voices in support of Palestine. I hope and pray that somehow the compassion and love and concern generated by this gathering in some way contributes to relieving the unspeakable suffering of the Palestinian people. Again, thank you to all who showed up with their beautiful signs, banners, flags, sculptures, voices, energies, and hearts. I love you all.
with peace, gratitude, and tears,
Eli
