Rally and march on Jan 21

We gathered on Raymond Ave just outside the Vassar College campus and first marched to Rep. Ryan's office (Raymond Ave) and next to McDonalds on Main Street.

I counted 48 people on the march.

We stopped in the parking lot of Ryan's office and people shared thoughts 'popcorn style': calling out our elected on his criminal support of genocide, analysis from the film, 'Isralelism' (that Vassar SJP had screened this week), we heard a passionate (prepared) speech by a Poughkeespie high school student talking about: local Islamophobia /how he feels unsafe wearing his keffiyeh, the importance of standing together in this time of genocide, and the importance of us all to keep talking about Palestine. Someone spoke of the importance of supporting local Arab businesses- that are under attack. A woman originally from Colombia spoke about standing together with others that are under attack and her work from Texas after the implementation of the Muslim ban. Moorhees Haddad spoke of the immediate need for ceasefire and thanked everyone for being in the streets...
