MECR has its first farmers' market this Saturday

Please understand: If the Israeli military shot one starved Palestinian person approaching food, it would be a heinous injustice that should be plastered on major news headlines around the world. But Israel is slaughtering dozens of Palestinians seeking aid every day. As you can see, we have two people signed up to table and pass out flyers so far. We will have a table, Palestinian flag, some banners and sliced watermelon if possible. This is our time to connect to people and let them know about the Israel/US genocide in Gaza. It is our time to speak out against the carnage.

Criticizing Israel is not antisemitic.

Defend Hudson Valley's freedom of speech.

We, the citizens and residents of Dutchess and Ulster Counties urge our representatives in local, state, and national governing bodies, commissions, and schools not to confuse criticism of Israel with antisemitism. Adoption of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition does exactly that. It includes eleven examples of antisemitism, seven of which claim that criticism of the state of Israel is antisemitic. 

This seriously flawed definition can be used to censor First Amendment free speech rights, and must not be given an influential voice. If adopted already, as New York State and some counties have done , it must be amended or replaced. We cannot allow protestors, teachers, students, workers, and public officials to be exposed to criminal liability, censure, firing, or false accusations of antisemitism simply because they dare criticize the state of Israel.

Pat Ryan ownes the genocide

Dear friends,
A group of us welcomed Congressman Pat Ryan at Arlington High School where he gave a Memorial Day address. Ryan has steadfastly supported all of Israel’s policies including genocide and the starvation of children. In a zoom meeting with Ryan he actually stated that, “there is no genocide.” He presents himself as “Mr. Nice Guy” wanting to help needy constituents. The reality is that he puts Zionist/Israeli interests ahead of America's desperate needs for health care, housing, care of veterans, and education. Maybe it’s because he takes over $200,00.00 per year from the Israeli lobby (AIPAC)???

 We were there to call him out! And we did! It was a beautiful, if rainy, gathering and in the midst of the pain, suffering, and desperation of Gaza we all connected in sorrowful but joyful solidarity. Deep gratitude to all who showed up to stand with Gaza on this dark and rainy afternoon. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.
Praying that this horror will end.
